*Warring chides AAP for crying wolf over MLAs being poached*
*Asks party to identify MLAs, people who tried to bribe them*
CHANDIGARH, September 13: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today ridiculed the allegations leveled by the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to poach on its MLAs and buy them with offers ranging between Rs 20 and 25 crores each.
The PCC president said, no doubt the BJP is quite capable of doing that and has a history of poaching opposition MLAs and destabilizing the governments, buying MLAs and stealing popular mandate, but in this case the AAP appears to be trying to divert public attention from its own failures.
“Or maybe there is some revolt brewing within the AAP that MLAs are feeling restless and the party leadership is trying to preempt any such move”, he observed.
“It is a classic example of crying wolf”, Warring remarked, while pointing out that AAP has been levelling such periodical allegations now and then. Earlier they alleged that the BJP was trying to buy their MLAs in Delhi and now they are repeating the same story in Punjab, he pointed out, while asking the party to name the MLAs who were being approached and name the people who were trying to “buy” them.
He pointed out, there must be someone who must have approached some MLAs or they (the MLAs) must have received some phone calls. “Why not present those MLAs before media and let them tell it themselves as how, when and where they were approached and from which phone numbers they received the calls?” he asked, while adding, the AAP can also lodge a complaint with the police as this is a criminal offence when somebody is trying to offer bribe to someone.
“Assuming that you won’t be heard in Delhi as you have often been accusing Delhi Police of bias against you, why not lodge a complaint in Punjab where Police is under you and where your MLAs have been attempted to be bribed?” the PCC president questioned the AAP leadership and the government, adding, “or your bluff would be called and you will stand exposed in public for your serial lies”.
