VB nabs MC Building Inspector for taking Rs 25,000 bribe

Chandigarh March 22 –

          The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state, on Friday arrested Harbaksh Singh, posted as Building Inspector at Municipal Council Barnala while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

          Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Rashpal Singh, a resident of Barnala.          He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Building Inspector was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for passing the map of his motor workshop situated at Handiaya chowk, Barnala city and the deal has been struck at Rs 25,000.

In this regard a FIR under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at police station VB range Patiala. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
