2 PSPCL clerks suspended for Rs 2.74 lakh scam

Initiates Departmental disciplinary action against Assistant Revenue Accountant

Chandigarh, February 4 ; In a press statement issued here, Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO disclosed that the department has suspended two clerks and initiated departmental disciplinary action against an assistant revenue accountant for perpetrating a financial scam amounting to Rs. 2.74 lakh.

The Power Minister elaborated that the two clerks and the revenue accountant stationed at the Sub-Divisional Office Samrala urban caused financial losses to the PSPCL by erroneously issuing bills to consumers after reversing the receipts of the bills they had submitted doing the scam

.The PSPCL promptly took action and recovered the due amount from the implicated employees.

The department suspended both clerks immediately under Regulation 4(1) of the PSPCL Employees Punishment and Appeals Regulations 1971, designating the office of the Additional Superintending Engineer Operation, Sri Anandpur Sahib, as their headquarters during the suspension period.

The Power Minister confirmed that departmental disciplinary action is underway against the Assistant Revenue Accountant.

Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized that while the Punjab government has granted domestic consumers the benefit of 300 units of free power per month to alleviate inflationary pressures, these individuals were causing financial harm to the PSPCL through erroneous billing practices.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government to administer a corruption-free administration, ensuring stringent action against all corrupt officials and employees.
