*Meets family, says sacrifice of Baba Ram Singh and other farmers won’t be allowed to go in vain*
*Chandigarh, December 18 Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic) senior leader and former Punjab Finance Minister, Lehra MLA Parminder Singh Dhindsa on Friday paid a condolence visit and attended the cremation of Sikh priest Baba Ram Singh at his native village in Karnal, who sacrificed his life by shooting himself at Kundli-Singhu border protest site on Wednesday. S. Dhindsa expressed anguish over Baba Ram Singh’s death and met his family members during the last rites held on Friday.
Dhindsa said that the news of Sant Baba Ram Singh ji’s suicide was painful. Offering his condolences to the family in the hour of grief, he said that farmers were asking for their rights and the government should listen to their voice and all three anti-farmers black laws should be repealed. “Baba Ram Singh ji had dedicated his life to the service of people. He sacrificed his life looking at the farmers’ suffering. Sacrifice of Baba Ram Singh ji and other farmers won’t be allowed to go in vain. My prayers are with his family and supporters in this time of grief,” said Dhindsa.
He said that the farmers were pushing this agitation forward with determination and this movement had now entered a crucial stage from where the victory of the struggle seemed certain. Speaking with a heavy heart, S. Dhindsa said that it was very sad that the central government did not see the plight of the farmers, whereas Sant Baba Ram Singh ji had been forced to commit suicide due to these anti-farmers black laws and in the last few days more than 20 Punjabis had been martyred. He appealed to the Centre government to resolve the issues of the farmers without any delay.
