SAD complaints against changing of voter wards even after allotment of symbols to candidates in MC elections

Chandigarh, February 8, : The Shiromani Akali Dal today complained to the State Election Commission (SEC) regarding changing of wards of many voters in Batala Municipal Committee elections  and urged it to immediately take action against the same.

In a complaint filed with the SEC, the SAD Senior Vice President and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it is forwarding a complaint in this regard from MLA Batala Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal in which he has disclosed how the ruling party was trying to change wards of several hundreds voters even after allotment to election symbol to the candidates.

Citing example, the SAD said that in ward no 15 of the city the SAD candidate Inderjit Kaur w/of Bawa Singh is contesting from the ward but in this case her vote along with several hundred other have  been transferred to Ward no 17 .

The SAD leader said that similarly the SAD head office is receiving several complaints from different party leaders in which it has been alleged that even after allotment of election symbol, hundreds of votes have been transferred to other wards on the instance of ruling party leaders.

He urged the SEC to take notice of complaints where there are such complaints of changing of wards and other election malpractices and get these inquired on priority basis and take action against the guilty in these cases.
