Punjab Government will sympathetically consider legitimate demands of blind

Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO meets representatives of National Federation of Blind and Blind Persons Association

Chandigarh, August 17:

The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will soon consider the legitimate demands of the blind people of the state and resolve them with compassion. Punjab Public Works and Power Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO expressed these words after having a meeting with National Federation of the Blind, Punjab Branch and Blind Persons Association following the directions of the Chief Minister.

          The cabinet minister said that the issues like to fill the vacant posts under backlog quota in different departments of Punjab, to re-implement the special allowance given to disabled employees, to promote the disabled in different departments, tabla instructors working in the education department. To consider grade pay, to provide facilities to blind players like normal players, to increase the disabled pension, to increase the staff and other facilities in Jamalpur, a government school run for the blind, Shagan scheme for disabled girls, reservation in MNREGA scheme, to give employment to the blind residents of Punjab on domicile basis at the time of recruitment, for the welfare of the disabled. Appointment of Disability Commissioner and many other were discussed in the meeting.

          The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed to the all-round development of the state and also to provide a good life to the visually impaired people of the state. He said that legitimate demands of both the associations will be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and Social Security Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur and these will be resolved soon.

          Among others who were present during the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary Social Security and Women Child Development Kirpa Shankar Saroj, Secretary Personnel Rajat Aggarwal, Special Secretary Finance Mohit Tiwari, Director Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Department Raj Bahadur Singh, Deputy Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Navraj Singh Brar, Director Social Security and Women Child Development Arvindarpal Singh Sandhu.
