Punjab BJP leaders and workers should quit party and support farmers: Bhagwant Mann
.Statement of MoS for Agriculture insult to farmers of the entire country
…Mann’s advises Akali and Congress workers to quit their parties as well
…Modi government should not take the farmers’ movement lightly
Chandigarh, December 7
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State President and MP Bhagwant Mann has appealed to the leaders and workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab to quit their party and come in an open support of the farmers. Accusing the Congress and the Akali Dal (Badal) of sabotaging the farmers movement, Mann said that honest Akali or Congress workers should get rid of these corruption-ridden and double-faced traditional parties and come in open support of the struggling farmers.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Bhagwant Mann alleged that the Congress and SAD along with the ruling BJP had been working on an agenda to derail the farmers movement from the very beginning in order to facilitate the corporate houses to have their way.
Bhagwant Mann said “The farmer is fighting for his survival in the cold nights of December, while the central government is being adamant. At such a critical juncture, we must all rise above petty politics and come in open support of the ‘annadaata’, listening to the voice of our conscience”.
He said the Aam Aadmi Party had been vehemently opposing the black laws on agriculture from day one and stood shoulder to shoulder with the farmers. He added that the BJP, Badal and the Captain were spreading false propaganda against the Aam Aadmi Party, which is nothing but a vilification campaign by them.
Bhagwant Mann said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Moday visited the protesting farmers at Singhu border as their true and trustworthy sevadar to share their trauma. He revealed that pressure was being build up by the BJP to stop the Aam Aadmi Party from supporting the farmers.
Reacting to the statement of Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary, Bhagwant Mann said that on one hand the government was talking to the farmers and on the other hand the ministers of the Modi government were making arrogant remarks against them. He said that the statement of the Minister ahead of the 6th round of meeting between the farmers and the Union government, saying that the Modi government was still taking the farmers’ issues very lightly. Mann said that the government needed to shun ego and take an urgent call on their demands, sooner than later.
Mann said that BJP Lok Sabha member from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol has betrayed the people of Punjab and Gurdaspur. He said that the controversial statement made by him was completely reprehensival. Mann asked Deol to make it clear that he was with the people, especially farmers, who voted for him or with the BJP, which was hell bent on ruining the farmers.
Mann said that the intentions of the Modi government were not pro-farmer, which was why the issue is lingering on for months. He said that on the one hand the government was continuing the dialogue with the farmers, on the other hand the BJP had launched a concerted campaign to justify the black law.
