PSPCL Lineman Arrested for Taking Rs 40,000 Bribe
Chandigarh February 17 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has arrested a lineman namely Rajesh Kumar, posted at PSPCL office, Umarpura, Batala, Gurdaspur district for taking bribe money of Rs. 40,000.
Today, an official spokesperson of the state VB announced that they arrested the aforementioned accused based on an online complaint filed at the Chief Minister Anti Corruption Action Line by Manjinder Singh, a resident of village Sangatpura, Batala, district Gurdaspur.
He further added that the complainant alleged in his complaint that he along with family owns agricultural land in village Sangatpura, where he needed to install a new transformer for his tube well connection. In this regard above said PSPCL Lineman Rajesh Kumar has took bribe of Rs. 40,000 but he did not installed the transformer. He recorded the conversation while the power official was demanding bribe money and submitted it to the VB as an evidence.
The VB range Amritsar conducted an enquiry regarding this complaint and found the allegations as correct and true. In this regard a FIR under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said accused Rajesh Kumar Lineman and he was arrested. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he added.
