PUNJAB POLICE & META JOINTLY ORGANISE WORKSHOP ON IDENTIFYING DEEP FAKE IN CYBERSPACE

WORKSHOP AIMED AT TRAINING POLICE OFFICERS IN TACKLING ONLINE MISINFORMATION

CHANDIGARH, February 16:  In order to sensitise police officers/officials about tools for tackling online misinformation and preventing its spread, the Cyber Crime Division of Punjab Police, in association with Meta (Facebook) and representatives of Misinformation Combat Alliance, organized a one-day workshop.

Understanding Deep Fake

Deep fake, defined as an image, audio, or video digitally edited to replace the original with someone else, was a focal point of discussion during the workshop. The session aimed to highlight its potential in creating explicit content and spreading misinformation.

Training Program Highlights
During the training program, Meta along with the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA) team discussed various methods to identify, debunk, and tackle misinformation on online platforms. Over 150 police personnel of various ranks attended the training, enhancing their skills in identifying and combating misinformation. Capacity Building Efforts
The training primarily focused on enhancing the capacity of Punjab Police to utilize publicly available tools and resources effectively. This aimed to combat misinformation, malformation, and disinformation propagated through Deep Fake technology.

Commitment to Cyber Safety
During the workshop, ADGP Cyber Crime V Neeraja reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to ensuring Cyber Space remains a safe zone for users. She emphasized the importance of collaboration with key stakeholders to adopt effective solutions for Deep Fake threats.

Utilizing Social Media
The training aims to equip Punjab Police to effectively utilize the power of social media to circulate correct information among citizens. Officers are building capacities to tackle fake content and disseminate accurate information promptly.

7. Initiatives for Public Awareness
DIG Cyber Crime Nilambari V Jagadale emphasized initiatives including the Rapid Information Communication Network (RICN) and the establishment of State Cyber Crime Cell accounts on various social media platforms. These efforts aim to sensitize people about cybersecurity and prevent the dissemination of misinformation and Deep Fake in cyberspace.
