-Captain, Dhindsa and BJP should give account of their last promises of debt waiving: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, February 9

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Ministerial Candidate and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann termed the Election Manifesto, issued by BJP, Capt. Amarinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s alliance, as deceptive and full of lies, because it has nothing for the farmers, labourers, traders, industrialists, students and youth of Punjab. Mann said that from past experiences we know that BJP leaders don’t deliver on their election promises by saying that these are ‘election jumlas’.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Wednesday, Bhagwant Mann raised several questions regarding the 11-point election manifesto issued by the BJP, Capt Amarinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa for the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. Mann said that Capt. Amarinder Singh, who had become an ally of BJP, had come to power in Punjab during the 2017 elections by promising to waive all the debts of farmers (loans of government banks, brokers and co-operative banks). Capt Amarinder Singh and the BJP should tell what action Captain has taken on the promise of farmers’ loan waiver when he was the Chief Minister? Mann said that Sanyukt Akali Dal leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s son Parminder Singh Dhindsa had been the Finance Minister of Punjab and Dhindsa himself had been a long standing partner in the NDA government at the Center, but the Dhindsa family have no concern about the welfare of Punjabis and they have done nothing for Punjab.

Mann lashed out at the BJP, saying that Narendra Modi had become the Prime Minister in 2014 with promises to implement the Swaminathan Commission report, to double farmers’ income and waive loans, but even after seven years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not implemented the commission’s report, nor has he waived the debt of farmers and there’s no rise in income of farmers. On the contrary, the BJP has run away from the guarantee of MSP on all crops and legal procurement of crops on MSP. He said that the anti-farmer face of BJP had been exposed in front of the country, because they had enacted three anti-farmer laws for the benefit of their ‘corporate friends’, due to which about 700 farmers had to sacrifice their lives in farmers’ agitation against these laws.

Mann said that BJP at the Center had given industrial packages to the neighbouring states to destroy the industries of Punjab but today BJP was selling their lies of industrial development in the state. According to AAP leader BJP alliance’s ‘Samridh Pind’ scheme will be similar to the ‘Smart City’ scheme and the ‘Village Adoption’ scheme, as there is not a single ‘smart city’ or ‘developed village’ to be seen in the BJP regime. Questioning the ‘Healthy Villages’ scheme, Mann said that in 7 years, BJP did not even build a hospital of P.G.I standard in Punjab, let alone AIIMS.

Bhagwant Mann asked that in 2014, BJP had promised to provide 2 crore jobs every year, BJP will tell how many Punjabi youth were given jobs in central government agencies? He alleged that the BJP alliance was showing the same dreams to the youth as Narendra Modi had shown to the country in 2014 and Capt. Amarinder Singh to the youth of Punjab in 2017.

Mann said that, like AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi, if BJP, Capt. Amarinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa have done any major work for the progress and communal harmony of Punjab then they should ask the people of Punjab to vote for them on the basis of work. He said that people of Punjab had experienced the rules of Congress and Akali Dal Badal including BJP, Captain and Dhindsa, so the voters of the state are now clearly refusing to vote for these traditional parties and the Aam Aadmi Party will form the government with clear majority.
