URGES FARMERS TO BRING PRODUCE AS PER GoI’s MOISTURE SPECIFICATIONS

 

Morinda/Chandigarh, October 3: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday formally launched the paddy procurement operations during KMS 2021-22 across the state from Grain Market Morinda here.

The development came a day after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acceding to the request of Mr. Channi, has allowed the state to undertake paddy procurement from October 3 instead of October 11.

 

The Chief Minister, while interacting with the farmers, commission agents and labourers at the grain market said that all the necessary arrangements for smooth, prompt and seamless procurement, lifting and storage of paddy have been made by the state government.

 

Reiterating his government’s firm commitment, Mr. Channi said that every single grain of the farmers’ produce would be lifted from the market and strict adherence to the prescribed norms of timely payment to the farmers would be ensured. He also urged farmers to bring their produce within specifications of moisture content laid by the Government of India.

 

The Chief Minister also directed Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Gurkirat Kirpal Singh to ensure smooth and hassle-free procurement of paddy during the current Kharif Marketing Season.

 

Meanwhile, among others Special Principal Secretary to CM Rahul Tiwari, DC Rupnagar Sonali Giri, SSP Rupnagar Vivek Sheel Soni, Market Committee Chairman Gurwinder Singh Kukrali, District Mandi Officer Nirmal Singh, DFSC Satvir Singh, DM PUNSUP Monika, DM Markfed Navita and DM Warehouse Kewal Krishan were also present on the occasion.
