*CM GIVES NOD FOR SETTING UP NEW TOWNSHIP IN MOHALI MASTER PLAN*

MOVE AIMED AT ENSURING AFFORDABLE HOUSING FACILITY TO PEOPLE

Chandigarh, June 6:

          Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday gave a go ahead for setting up an ultra modren new township in Mohali master plan.

          A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister while chairing a high level meeting of Urban development here at his residence.

          The Chief Minister said that it is need of hour to develop this township for providing affordable housing facilities to the people in the Tricity. He asked the officers of urban development department and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority to conceptualise and come up with a concrete proposal on this matter. Bhagwant Mann said that the proposed township should be equipped with world class facilities to ensure that people can live comfortably.

          The Chief Minister further said that the township should be a perfect blend of comfort, elegance and luxury along with all safety measures including fire fighting and others for giving best of the residential services to people. Bhagwant Mann laid special thrust on developing this township on ultra modren lines so that it can emerge as a hub of Information and Technology along with that of higher education. Likewise, he said that a part of the township should also be developed as Industrial township so that the captains of industry from across the country can be invited for investing here.

          The Chief Minister said that as Mohali has best of the class road, air and rail connectivity so this purposed township in its vicinity has a huge potential of growth and progress. He also asked the officers to explore the feasibility of shifting the upcoming Medical college at Mohali on a new stretch of land. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is committed for the overall development of the state and prosperity of its people.
