Chief secretary issues instructions to complete land acquisition for Expressway 

-Farmers will get Rs 15, 000 crore compensation, roads worth Rs 40, 000 crore will be constructed in the state: Janjua

 

 

-Reviewed projects of National Highways Authority with DCs of Punjab

Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua, while reviewing the ongoing projects of the National Highways Authority (NHAI) in the state on Friday, directed all the Deputy Commissioners to complete the land acquisition process immediately to ensure construction of Expressways within the stipulated time.

 

The Chief Secretary said that the farmers of the state would get Rs 15, 000 crore as compensation and roads worth Rs 40, 000 crore will be constructed.

Holding a meeting with the Chairman of the NHAI and the Deputy Commissioners of the state, Mr. Janjua said that under the supervision of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab government is committed to complete the national projects on time in the state.

He categorically asked the district administration officials to take necessary action to complete the reaming work immediately and no laxity in the matter will be tolerated.

 

With the construction of this new expressway, the pace of development in the state will get bolstered and investors will get a big boost.

Chief Secretary said that 15 greenfield expressways with a length of 1173 km and 9 brownfield expressways with a length of 436 km are being constructed in the state. The Delhi-Amritsar-Kattra Expressway, Amritsar-Bathinda, Ludhiana-Bathinda, Mohali-Bathinda and Ludhiana-Ropar, Jalandhar Bypass, Amritsar Bypass, Mohali Bypass and Ludhiana Bypass are prominent among them.

 

In the meeting, the Chief Secretary took stock of the ground situation with Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts and asked NHAI to solve the problems on the spot. Talking to the officials, he said that the farmers should not have any problem in getting the compensation amount.

He directed that the pending work should be completed during the next review meeting.

NHAI involved in the meeting through video conferencing. Chairman Alka Upadhyay discussed matters related to the authority. Additional Chief Secretary Forest and Wildlife Raji P Srivastava, Principal Secretary Home and PWD Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary Power Tejveer Singh, Secretary Public Works Department Malwinder Singh Jaggi, Divisional Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra were also present in the meeting.
