Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday campaigned for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Fatehgarh Sahib candidate Gurpreet Singh GP. Mann appealed to the people and said that they must vote on June 1 and vote for the leaders who work.
He said that after decades of struggle, we got the right to elect the candidate of our choice by voting. Great freedom fighters like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Chandrashekhar Azad and Kartar Singh Sarabha have sacrificed their lives to get us this voter card, so definitely use your right to vote and elect representatives of your choice. Do not waste your vote by getting tempted or misled.
While appealing to vote for Gurpreet GP, Mann said that elect such a candidate who understands your pain and suffering. Gurpreet GP came from a common family and reached here with his hard work. He is aware of the problems of the common people. He will become your voice in the Parliament and will fight for your rights.
He said that we do not ask for votes in the name of caste and religion like the BJP. In this election, we are asking for votes from the people in the name of our work of the last two years like free electricity, canal water, schools and hospitals. We gave government jobs to 43000 youth without any bribe or recommendation. Made electricity bills of common people zero. Canal water was supplied to the farmers’ fields and farmers were provided sufficient electricity throughout the day without any interruption.
Referring to the Road Safety Force (SSF), Mann said that last year we formed the Road Safety Force, due to which about 1250 people have been saved from road accidents till now. Last year in March-April, about 1500 people died in road accidents. Whereas this year only 250 people died in these months. Apart from this, about 18.5 lakh rupees in cash and goods of the injured people were returned. Earlier, after the accident, the money and valuable goods of the victims used to get lost.
Apart from this, we have delivered canal water to 59 percent of the farms in Punjab. When I became the Chief Minister in March 2022, only 21 percent of the farms were getting canal water. By October, we will deliver canal water to 70 percent of the farms, after which about 6 lakh tube wells in Punjab will become useless. Then the government will save about 5000 to 6000 crore rupees. With that money, we will give Rs 1000 every month to our mothers and sisters. Mann said that his government has worked for the development of every area of Punjab.
Whereas BJP and Prime Minister Modi, after ruling for ten years, are asking for votes in the name of caste, religion and Mangalsutra. BJP does the politics of hatred. It wants to get votes by scaring people in the name of caste and religion. He said that the BJP is also trying to divide Punjab, but the people of Punjab never tolerate the politics of hatred. Punjab is known for communal harmony. People here celebrate Gurpurabs, Eid, Holi, Diwali and Navami together. BJP’s politics of hatred can never succeed here.
Sharing information, Mann said that AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will come to Punjab on May 16 and will meet the people here. He said that he will first go to Amritsar and pay obeisance at Darbar Sahib and Durgiana temple, then he will do a road show with me there.
He said that BJP people had the misconception that by putting Arvind Kejriwal in jail, they will finish the Aam Aadmi Party, but they did not know that the Aam Aadmi Party is like a river and the river makes its own path. The river cannot be stopped from flowing.
