Commenting on the development promises being made by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh government on the completion of four years, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that no one could be a big liar as Captain Amarinder Singh, who had done nothing for the people of Punjab in four years of power and now was trying to mislead the people by talking useless about development. Addressing a press conference convened at the party headquarters here on Thursday, senior leader of the AAP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that Captain Amarinder Singh who talks about development works in Punjab, sees the development only around the Siswan farmhouse, from where he never comes out and this is the reason Captain feels that Punjab has developed.

Cheema said that today Captain Amarinder Singh himself had admitted that he did not want to eradicate drugs from Punjab and that he was only talking about breaking the back of drugs. He said that the mafia which was earlier run by the Akalis, was now run by Captain Amarinder as he himself has become the kingpin of it. Cheema further said that Captain had promised before the elections to punish the culprits of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, but no one has been punished yet. “Captain-led Congress government had promised to provide employment to the educated youth by going door to door and promised to eradicate mafia rule from Punjab which has not been fulfilled yet,” he added.

Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, Cheema said that Captain who was telling of completion of 85 percent of the election manifesto, in fact had fulfilled only 0.85 per cent of the promises made in it. “Captain may have not spoken ‘zero point’ by mistake” he added. Referring to the ever-increasing power prices, the AAP leader said that the Congress had promised to reduce the bill before coming to power. Even Captain Amarinder Singh, while showing the papers in the Assembly had said that the ‘white paper’ was ready and would be issued soon, but nothing has been released yet.

Cheema said that the private power companies which used to pay commission to Sukhbir Badal, the share would now have been started for Captain and as a result, he did not issue a white paper and has now reneged on his election promise to reduce power prices. He said that Captain Amarinder had also failed miserably in enforcing law and order in Punjab. “Big horrific incidents are unfolding in Punjab day by day. Now that the 2022 assembly elections are approaching, Captain Amarinder wanted to divert the attention of the people by playing with false statistics,” he added.
