Chandigarh, 1 February  , Updatepunjab.com  : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will lead a protest at bjp headquarters in Delhi on February 2 against the rigging in Chandigarh Mayor elections. The demonstration will be under the leadership of AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also in attendance.

BJP is destroying the democracy

In a statement issued from Chandigarh party headquarters on Thursday, AAP Punjab Working President Principal Budh Ram accused the BJP of undermining democracy and the electoral system. He cited the rigging and bullying in Chandigarh Mayor elections as the latest example.

Budh Ram stated that the presiding officer appointed for the Chandigarh Mayor election deliberately invalidated the votes of eight AAP councillors and declared the BJP candidate as the mayor. He alleged that the presiding officer tampered with the ballot papers to invalidate the votes of anti-BJP councillors.

Budh Ram called for re-elections

Budh Ram called for re-elections and legal action against the presiding officer. He emphasised the importance of defeating the BJP to safeguard the country’s democracy, expressing concerns over the party’s actions against the democratic system.
