Director PGIMER Prof. Jagat Ram along with wife take COVID-19 Vaccine shot today at PGIMER
Chandigarh: February 6 : PGIMER Director Prof. Jagat Ram along with his wife Mrs Asha Kumari came forward together to take COVID-19 vaccine shots here at PGIMER today.


Prof. Jagat Ram and his wife were administered Covishield vaccines at the vaccination centre at Advanced Paediatric Centre, PGIMER in the presence of Prof. S.S.Pandav, Chairman COVID-19 Vaccination Committee, PGIMER and Dr Mahesh Devnani, Joint Medical Superintendent, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, PGIMER.
Sharing his personal experience of vaccination after a gap of four hours, Prof. Jagat Ram said that he and his wife are feeling absolutely fine and both of them had no adverse reaction even after four hours of receiving the vaccine jab.
Looking cheerful, Mrs Asha Kumari urged others to have faith in medical science and join the drive as she came out of the vaccination room after getting the shot. The vaccinators who manned the vaccination site were also excited.
The Director emphasised that there are absolutely no issues associated with the safety of the vaccine. He also said that this vaccine will have a protective effect against this dreaded disease Covid19. Moreover, this vaccine is safe and with minimal or no side effect.
Sharing about the mild infection associated with the vaccine, Prof. Jagat Ram said, “Mild reaction after vaccination is a good sign because the immune system of the body is reacting to the vaccine and creating antibodies.” He added that mild fever, body ache or joint pains could occur for a day or two, which will subside automatically, and people are free to contact the medical experts.
Prof, Surinder S. Pandav, Chairman COVID-19 Vaccination Committee at PGIMER, while updating about the Vaccination Drive at PGIMER stated, “The Vaccine Drive at PGIMER is running smoothly and the response is consistently picking up. Since its inception on January 16, we have successfully inoculated around 2500 healthcare workers comprising doctors, nursing officers, technicians and hospital and sanitation attendants and others, meaning thereby, our response rate to vaccination program is about 60%, which is reasonable.”
