The vaccination drive in Barnala is going on full swing wherein people of the district have vowed to put an end to the spread of infection by getting themselves vaccinated. The teachers of government secondary schools of Barnala have taken a lead in covid vaccination wherein 90.5 percent of teachers have got their covid shots. Similarly, almost 80 percent of the police staff and 79 percent of people under the District Food and Civil Supplies Controller (DFSC) have got themselves vaccinated.

–Carry aadhar card, passport, government photo I card or any other photo I card to nearest health center for vaccination
Sharing this today during covid vaccination review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that vaccination drive is getting good response. He added that responsible Barnala citizens are coming out and getting themselves vaccinated. He appreciated the secondary education department, police and DFSC department for getting such large number of its people vaccinated.
Phoolka added that the new variant of corona virus is more lethal than the previous infection and that getting vaccinated ensured safety of an individual. Mr Phoolka, who has already got himself the two doses of vaccination said, “Getting vaccinated doesn’t only make the person (who gets vaccinated) safe, but also minimizes risk of infection for ones family members.”
He said that vaccination is compulsory for all the government employees and for general people above 45 years of age. Also anyone, who wants to get vaccinated, can approach the nearest health center with Aadhar card, passport, government photo I card or any other photo I card.
Also 83 centres for vaccination have been set up in the district that includes 52 health centres in the rural areas and other private hospitals.
Deputy Commissioner has asked the power department, Guardians of Governance, block development officers, booth level officers, district program officer, district social security officer and others to get their respective staff members and general public associated with them vaccinated.
Civil Surgeon Dr Harinderjit Singh said that so far 15304 doses have been given to people in Barnala. These include 2542 doses to health workers, 5526 doses to front line workers and 7226 doses to people above the age of 45 years.
