Digital Media Association thanks CM Punjab for including journalists in Frontline warriors list
CHANDIGARH: Digital Media Association has expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for including accredited and yellow card holder journalists in the list of frontline warriors in fight against Covid.
The Association president Devinderjit Singh Darshi is joined by Chief Patron Baljit Balli, Chairman Satinder Bains, Senior Vice President Mahavir Jain, Vice President H.S. Bawa, General Secretary Davinder Sigh Kohli, Cashier Parminder Singh Jattpuri and Joint Secretary Prashant Sharma to thank the Chief Minister and Raveen Thukral Media Advisor to CM for giving due recognition to the media fraternity.
The Association members noted that over 1200 journalists had died due to Covid-19 related complications in 75 countries and over 165 journalists have lost lives in India in last one year. The robust Indian media fraternity has lately lost Rohit Sardana, Nilakshi Bhattacharyya, Aiyushman Dutta, Bhanu Prakash Rath, Manas Ranjan Jaipuria, Amjad Badshah, Sridhar Dharmasanam, Raju Mishra, Sadanand Shinde, Kakoli Bhattacharya, Kondra Srinivas Goud, Sammi Reddy, Akash Saxena, Khwaja Mujahiduddin, Anil Basnoi, Venga Reddy, Madiraju Harikrishna Giri, Syed Shabaz, etc to the corona-pandemic. About six journalists have also died in Punjab so far.
The Association said that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had taken the timely decision to declare journalists frontline warriors who are reporting in difficult times. The Association said that journalists will now be eligible for all benefits, including priority vaccination, that frontline workers are entitled to from the state government.
The Association conveyed special gratitude to Principal Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Director PR Anandita Mitra and Additional Secretary PR Senu Duggal for the gesture made by Chief Minister. It was possible due to their support only.
