PUNJAB GOVT CONSTITUTES TASK FORCE TO CREATE MECHANISM FOR OFF-TAKE OF FERMENTED ORGANIC MANURE FROM CBG PROJECTS

• New & Renewable Energy Sources Minister Aman Arora convenes maiden meeting of task

 

Chandigarh, September 15:

 

Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has constituted a task force to discuss and create enabling mechanism for off-take of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) generated from Compressed Biogas (CBG) projects based on agro-residue in the State, said Mr. Aman Arora, Minister for New and Renewable Energy Sources.

 

He said that the New and Renewable Energy Sources department has also issued a notification in this regard. Additional Chief Secretary, New & Renewable Energy Sources Mr. A Venu Prasad will be the Chairman of the task force, while, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Mr. Sarvjit Singh has been appointed as the Co-Chairman and Director PEDA Mr. MP Singh will work as a Convener.

 

Notably, this task force will work under overall control of the Minister for New and Renewable Energy Sources, Punjab and the maiden meeting of the task force was convened on September 16.

 

The members of the task force include Chief Executive Officer PEDA Mr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director Agriculture Mr. Gurvinder Singh, Vice Chancellor GADVASU Ludhiana, Director Research PAU, Director General SSS National Institute of Bio Energy, Kapurthala, Senior Representatives of NFL, KRIBHCO, IFFCO, M/s Coromandel International Ltd, M/s. TATA Rallis India Ltd, M/S Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd, General Manager Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Director M/s. Sampuran Agri Venture Private Limited, CEO M/s Verbio India Private Limited, Director M/s. PES Renewable Private Limited, Director M/s. Farm Gas Private Limited, CEO M/s. EverEnviro Resource Management Private Limited and Director M/s. Cities Innovative Biofuels Private Limited.

 

Mr. Aman Arora said that the Mann Government will promote the utilization of FOM, produced by Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants, in Agriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture in the state. The use of FOM will enhance the nutrient uptake, growth, yield, nutrition efficiency, crop quality, besides helping local allied industries to flourish, he added.

 

Meanwhile, the private investors lauded the Minister for the constitution of the task force, which will help in optimum utilization of the FOM. They also thanked the Minister for giving them due representation in the task force.
