DIXON TO EXPAND BASE IN PUNJAB; INVEST RS. 300 CRORE IN PUNJAB 

 

ELECTRONICS SECTOR TO SEE A BIG BOOST

 

Chandigarh, December 14:

 

Punjab is all set to get a huge boost in the electronics sector with Dixon Technologies investing Rs. 300 crore in the State.

In a meeting held here today, the Industries and Commerce Minister Punjab Gurkirat Singh Kotli and Executive Chairman of Dixon Technologies Sunil Vachani had wide ranging discussions.

 

The dignitaries discussed matters pertaining to overall business opportunities for Electronic Manufacturing Sector in the state of Punjab. The meeting was followed by a detailed presentation by Dixon outlining the segment in which they serve and brands associated with the group. The presentation & discussion were also around Dixon’s growth plans in Punjab.

The Executive Chairman Sunil Vachani apprised the Industries Minister that Dixon shall be setting up an electronic manufacturing plant through a Joint Venture (JV) with Bharti group in Ludhiana with an investment of approximately Rs. 300 Crore including land and building. He further divulged that they had received the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) approval under the–Government of India PLI Scheme for the Telecom sector and accordingly Giving further details, Sunil Vachani informed that recently, Dixon Technologies and Beetel Teletech Limited had entered into Joint Venture Agreement. The JV Company-Dixon Electro Appliances Private Limited, had acquired manufacturing facility in the city of Ludhiana, Punjab.

 

Welcoming Dixon Technologies to Punjab, Mr. Gurkirat Singh Kotli appreciated Mr. Vachani and Dixon group for their outstanding contribution in the Electronic Manufacturing sector. “I am glad that organizations like Dixon, who are torch bearers in Electronic manufacturing sector, are keen to build electronic manufacturing eco system in the state of Punjab. I have a vision to bring transformational reforms in this state and to contribute immensely towards scaling up employment opportunities in the state of Punjab. With the help of organizations like that of Dixon, we are sure to achieve this vision for Punjab”, added Mr. Gurkirat Singh Kotli.

 

The Industries Minister also shared that he is very keen to see Punjab as a leader in ESDM manufacturing and this new investment by Dixon Technologies is sure to bring in a new era of Electronic manufacturing in a big way in the state by boosting the ESDM manufacturing ecosystem.

 

Lauding the Invest Punjab team headed by its CEO Rajat Agarwal, Sunil Vachani said that he had various meetings with him and made out a very strong case for setting up of a Electronic manufacturing project in Punjab. The Invest Punjab team had thereafter very proactively and continuously followed up with him as well. Excellent infrastructure, Policy Incentives, great connectivity, abundant technical trained manpower supported by various prestigious educational and research institutions in Punjab was a deciding factor, stated Mr. Vachani.

 

Notably, As a result of the initiative of the Industries Minister and concerted efforts by the Invest Punjab , the state has recently attracted many key investments recently including by Shree Punjab Cement, JKPL Packaging Products Limited, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd Swaraj Division, Arihant Spinning Mills, International Tractors Limited, Hero Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., Vardhman Adarsh Ispat Private Limited, Allengers OEM Private Limited, Sunjin India Feeds Private Limited etc.

 

Principal Secretary, Investment Promotion, Mr. Tejveer Singh, assured Mr. Vachani of all possible support from Invest Punjab for setting up this project.

 

Among others present on the occasion included the Additional CEO Invest Punjab Dr. Senu Duggal, Project Manager, Dixon Technologies India Limited Prithvi Vachani and Chairman Punjab Infotech Harpreet Singh Sandhu.
