MEMBER PARLIAMENT MEETS SC COMMISSION CHAIRMAN
Chandigarh, April 28:
Member Parliament from Sangrur Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today asserted that he will raise matters related to scholarships for Scheduled Caste students of Punjab in the Lok Sabha.
Meet Hayer, during his meeting with S. Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman, Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is committed to the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and is continuously working in this direction.
Sh. Meet Hayer lamented, “because of the mistakes of previous governments, lakhs of Scheduled Caste students in the state did not receive scholarships on time, causing them to face numerous difficulties.” He said that due to the previous government’s flawed policies, the number of scholarship beneficiaries had decreased from 3 lakh to just 60,000. Now, thanks to the efforts of the Mann government, this number has increased again to around 2 lakh, he added.
Jasvir Singh Garhi also briefed Meet Hayer about the functioning of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission.
