ROTTO’s Organ Donation Awareness Campaign at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition Sector 42 D gets good response with 38 pledging for Organ Donation

With 38 pledging for Organ Donation and many more showcasing their voluntary spirit, ROTTO’s Organ Donation Awareness Campaign at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition Sector 42 D got good response.

The campaign organised under ROTTO’S ‘Student Engagement Project’ was held alongside eye donation awareness session to popularize and strengthen the public movement for Organ Donation. The session was attended by over 150 students and was coordinated by  Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Head of the Department and senior faculty Dr. Munish Ahlawat of the institute.

Complementing the college authorities for taking the initiative, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent & Head Dept of Hospital Administration Nodal Officer, ROTTO (NORTH), PGIMER said, “Students being the change agent, any engagement activity with them always has much better cascading impact. With the right kind of counselling, advocacy and training workshops more & more  people can be encouraged to pledge for organ donation and thereby, help in saving precious lives, otherwise being lost due to shortage of transplantable organs.”

Mr. Sitesh Srivastav, Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of hotel Management Sector 42 Chandigarh seemed very keen to spread the awareness on organ donation as he  stated, “It has been our regular endeavour to ensure that the student are sensitized to the social realities around them and they grow up to be caring individuals who spare a thought for those who are less fortunate.”

“Organ Donation is a social responsibility and we all must come forward to join this compassionate cause by pledging for organ donation. These kinds of sessions will promote humanitarian spirit as nothing can instil a better feeling than being instrumental in saving someone’s life through organ donation, the Principal further added.”

At the awareness and pledging camp on Organ Donation, the resource team from showcased some documentaries, counseled students and faculty who enquired about organ donation. The team highlighted the importance & process of organ donation. Responding to the queries posed by the participants pertaining to prevalent myths and misconceptions, the resource team asserted that the camp helped in making people aware and sensitize about the cause.
