Former MLA and senior BJP leader Chaitanya Sharma has strongly criticized the Chief Minister’s visit to Gagret, calling it a total failure and accusing the state government of misleading the public. He stated, “The state government’s very survival depends on the Centre, yet it is scheming to take credit for the schemes funded by the central government.”
Sharma alleged that most of the projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister were primarily funded by the central government. “The state government has only spent ₹80 lakh, while the rest of the amount came from the Centre,” he claimed. He also questioned why Union Minister Anurag Thakur’s name was missing from the inauguration plaques, calling it a clear violation of protocol.
Recalling previous unfulfilled promises made during the CM’s earlier visits — such as the upgradation of Daulatpur Hospital, the establishment of a DSP office, Sadaani Wala bridge, and a mini secretariat — Sharma said that no tangible progress has been made on these fronts. “This government specializes in announcements, but nothing exists on the ground,” he remarked.
He further alleged a political conspiracy behind MLA Rakesh Kalia not getting a party ticket. “Isn’t it true that the Chief Minister himself asked me to contest the elections?” he asked. He added that while the CM speaks about divisions in the BJP, no party is more divided than the Congress. “When I was an MLA, a visit from the PWD minister to Gagret was scheduled, but the Chief Minister himself got it canceled. Why?”
Chaitanya Sharma also targeted the government on issues of law and order, education, and healthcare, accusing it of mismanagement and failure. “This government is bankrupt and continues to blame the previous regime despite being in power for over two years now,” he said.
He warned that if any false statements are made against him in the future, he will take the matter to court. He also questioned the government over its neglect of the HPCL project in Himachal, the deteriorating condition of officials, and the controversial end to the DGP’s tenure.
Concluding his remarks, Sharma labeled MLA Rakesh Kalia as an “accidental MLA” and criticized the use of a pilot vehicle for him. “The state claims it has no money, yet MLAs travel with pilot cars at the public’s expense,” he said.
Finally, he accused the state government of suppressing the voice of the fourth pillar of democracy — the media. “This government has filed the highest number of fake cases against journalists in the history of the state. Their only crime is reporting news. There is now a clear attempt to stifle democracy,” Sharma asserted.
