
SEC issues the programme for General Elections to elect the members of 16 Gram Panchayats
Chandigarh 12 March 2025: The Punjab State Election Commission announced that the General Election will be held on 30.03.2025 (Sunday). This election is to elect members of 16 Gram Panchayats. These include Bhathalan, Bir Bahadurgarh, Deelwal, and Farm Bahadurgarh.The list includes Majri, Peer Colony, Vidya Nagar, and Hira Colony. Moreover, it also covers Guru Nanak Nagar, Har Gobind Colony, Karheri, and Kasba Rurki. Additionally, it features Mehmadpur Jattan, Nawan Mehmadpur Jattan, Shamaspur, and Sheikhpur Kamboan of Block Sanour, District Patiala.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the State Election Commission said that 17.03.2025 (Monday) as the first date for filing nominations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. He further added that 20.03.2025 (Thursday) has been set as the last date for filing nominations, with submissions allowed up to 3 p.m. Moreover, the scrutiny of nominations will take place on 21.03.2025 (Friday). In this regard, he also mentioned that 22.03.2025 (Saturday) will be the final date for the withdrawal of nominations, again up to 3 p.m. Finally, he stated that 30.03.2025 (Sunday) has been designated as the date on which a poll shall be conducted, if necessary.
He added that counting of votes will take place at the polling stations immediately after the close of poll. The date by which the election shall be completed is 01.04.2025 (Tuesday).
He further informed that the formal notification of the Commission regarding the schedule of election will be issued on 17.03.2025. In this regard, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Patiala has been directed.
They need to make all necessary arrangements for a free and fair poll. The Model Code of Conduct will come into force from the date of notification. It applies in the revenue jurisdiction of said 16 Gram Panchayats of Block Sanour, District Patiala.
