“I will guard the statue of Father of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambekdar in village Nangal, near Phillaur on April 14 where in Khalistani and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) have desecrated the monument. I dare Gurpatwant Pannu to come and get it removed,” Dalit Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former union minister Vijay Sampla challenged Pannu from SFJ.
It is pertinent to mention here that on March 30, after getting the statue of Dr Ambedkar desecrated at the village Nangal near Phillaur, Pannu issued a video taking the responsibility for the malicious act and had stated that he would get all statues of Dr Ambedkar removed in Punjab on April 14. Dr Ambedkar was born on April 14.
Sampla said that Dr Ambedkar is the creator of the Indian constitution that has given the Dalit section of society a level playing field and granted them equal opportunities in all spheres of life. Dr. Ambedkar ensured social justice for all and protected the rights of every citizen of India through our constitution. While providing legal equality, Dr Ambedkar ensured through the constitution that there should be no discrimination based on religion, race, caste, economic status, gender, or place of birth.
Sampla added that by addressing Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, whom we consider our God, as Bhagat Ravidass, Pannu has shown disrespect towards Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj. Pannu had also hurt the sentiments of crores of followers like him who have been badly hurt.
Sampla demanded that the Punjab government register FIR against Pannu under the SC/ST Act and for sacrilege for belittling Bhagwan Ravidass Ji and Dr Ambedkar. He also demanded that Pannu be extradited from America and brought to India for subjecting him to trial.
