Punjab Government to provide financial assistance to 1503 institutions under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Student
Chandigarh, December 30: The Punjab government is under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. It is working diligently for the welfare of Scheduled Caste students. Continuing this commitment, the Punjab Government has released ₹9.92 crore. The state is supporting 1503 institutions with funding designated for Scheduled Caste students in classes 10+1 and 10+2.
Amount sanctioned for 1503 institutions.
Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, announced that ₹9.92 crore has been sanctioned for 1503 institutions.Additionally, ₹59.34 crore out of the allocated ₹92.00 crore has been released to 256 institutions, and the remaining payments to other institutions are being expedited.
Scheduled Caste students : The state allocated ₹92.00 crore for fee payment.
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the government allocated ₹92.00 crore for fee payment (40%) for the academic years 2017-18 to 2019-20.
This allocation benefits students from Government institutions. It also provides support to Punjab students studying in institutions outside the state. This helps them overcome financial challenges and access quality education.
The minister appealed to parents to submit income certificates. This ensures that students can maximize the benefits of this scheme.
Punjab govt earmarked ₹245.00 crore under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme
She said that for the academic year 2024-25, the Punjab government has earmarked ₹245.00 crore under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students to provide financial assistance to students.
Dr. Baljit Kaur reiterated that the Punjab government is striving for the welfare of all sections of society. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann leads this effort. The department is working to secure a bright future for Scheduled Caste students.It is directly transferring financial aid to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
