Chandigarh, March 13 ; Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign and Punjab Finance Minister, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, announced today. He made an announcement. He stated that the state’s crusade against drugs has yielded significant results. Cheema said that authorities have filed 1,259 FIRs and arrested 1,758 individuals since March 1. The Punjab government launched this campaign. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is leading the initiative to deal a final blow to drug trafficking.
Punjab Cracks Down on Drug Smugglers, Seizes Rs 60 Lakh and Narcotics
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema addressed a press conference here at Punjab Bhawan. He stated that the authorities have demolished the illegal properties of 29 drug smugglers using bulldozers. This action sends a strong message against the illicit drug trade. He said that authorities have successfully recovered a significant amount of drug money.The total recovered so far is Rs 60 lakh under the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign.
“In addition to the monetary seizures, a substantial haul of narcotic substances has been confiscated. The seizure includes 81 kg of Heroin, 970 kg of Poppy Husk, 51 kg of Opium, 10 kg of Ganja, 4 kg of Charas, 1 kg of Ice, and 7,06,714 banned pharmaceuticals. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Authorities have recovered 22 two-wheelers and 4 cars. They have also seized 12 pistols and taken 8 mobile phones from the individuals apprehended in connection with these cases.”
FIRs : Cheema Stresses Community Role in Anti-Drug Campaign
Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted the need for collective societal effort. He said that the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign goes beyond enforcement. It also emphasizes community engagement and preventive measures. He said that officials have launched a concerted drive to involve students and village Panchayats and have conducted a total of 1,028 meetings with students.Additionally, 122 SAMPARK meetings with community members have also taken place. These efforts aim to raise awareness and foster active participation in combating drug abuse.

He announced an upcoming meeting of the Yudh Nashian Virudh Cabinet Sub-Committee. Scheduled to take place on March 14. He said that this meeting will focus on evaluating ongoing efforts.
