Only educated children of the poor can free their families from poverty: CM Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh/Nawanshahr, May 1  Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Wednesday, attended the Barsi (death anniversary observation) of Satguru Shri Brahmanand Maharaj Bhuriwale at Pojewal in Balachaur and paid his respects. Mann also took the blessings of Aacharya Swami Chetna ji Maharaj. He said that Swami ji told him to keep working honestly and there is no bigger capital than honesty.

Addressing the sangat at this solemn occasion CM Bhagwant Mann said that he is fortunate to be in the company of so many great saints. He said that this institute has contributed in the fields of education, health and environment immensely and no service is greater than the service in these three fields. The act of service of the poor and needy is one of the biggest virtues.

Mann said that this institute is providing Langar at PGI at the times when one’s own family and relatives abandon them. We have the blessing of Guru Nanak ji, who started langar with just 20 rupees and still whenever there is a crisis langar of Guru Nanak is there for the people. He said that he himself keep water and satnaja (mixture of seven grains) for birds at his home. Mann said that the serving parents is equal to pilgrimage. He said that such institutes inspire us to serve the poor, our parents, innocent birds and animals.

Mann said that he often prays to God that he never takes any decision that will harm any person or any family’s livelihood. I pray to God that make me able to live up to the expectations of my people. He said that when institutes such as this one come to help in our endeavour to serve the people and society, we are able to work with much more enthusiasm and power.

Mann appealed to the women to make sure the education of their children. He said that no one can free us from poverty, only educated children of the poor can free their families from the clutches of poverty. He said that nothing goes with the person in the afterlife, so there is no point in amassing money or looting the rights of others. Only great souls who have served the people are remembered and celebrated.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also sat down in pangat and had langar. He was accompanied by Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa, minister Harjot Bains, MLA Santosh Kataria, MLA Dinesh Chadha, Sri Anandpur Sahib candidate Malvinder Singh Kang.
