‘CM di Yogashala’ Expands Statewide, Reaching 2 Lakh Citizens Across Punjab
A major testament to the success of this scheme is its unprecedented expansion. The government implemented it in four phases in just one year. The initiative began in four major cities in April 2023. Over 100 instructors conducted more than 500 classes. By June 2023, the initiative had expanded to nine cities, attracting over 50,000 participants. The third phase in January 2024 covered all urban areas with 1,500 instructors. The fourth phase, starting in March 2024, expanded to villages and blocks. Today, the initiative has reached all 23 districts and 146 blocks in Punjab. This reflects the government’s strong administrative will. It also shows efficient implementation at the grassroots level.
Nearly 200,000 citizens across Punjab are currently availing of these free yoga classes. This is up from 100,000 in March 2025. More than 4,581 yoga classes are being held daily in the morning and evening across the state. This massive participation shows people have wholeheartedly embraced this initiative. The program has truly become a “people’s wave.” It is leading the people of Punjab towards a healthy and happy life.
Government appointed 2,630 certified yoga instructors
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision is clearly reflected in the dual purpose of this scheme. This initiative is not only strengthening the physical and mental health of citizens but also creating significant employment opportunities for youth. The government has appointed 2,630 certified yoga instructors to run this program, providing Punjab’s youth with respectable careers and channeling their energy positively.
The government has made this scheme extremely simple and accessible to the public. Any citizen can easily form a group and request a free yoga instructor from the government in their neighborhood. The government immediately appoints a trained trainer, who conducts classes in parks, community halls, or other public spaces. This is a prime example of “healthcare at your doorstep,” which is completely free.
Punjab’s Preventive Health Revolution Transforming Lives
‘CM Di Yogashala’ is greatly improving the health of the people of Punjab. Thousands of participants are testifying to the miraculous benefits of yoga. People have reported significant improvements in managing chronic back pain, cervical pain, and knee pain. They have also experienced better management of diabetes and high blood pressure.Furthermore, people have widely reported mental health benefits such as improved sleep, increased energy, and reduced stress and depression.
The scheme is also strengthening the social fabric of Punjab. Its reach in rural areas has particularly empowered women and senior citizens, who are now able to access health benefits close to home. This initiative also supports the state’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign by using yoga to strengthen youths’ mental resilience and offer them a positive, healthy alternative, fostering a more harmonious society.
The Bhagwant Mann government’s ‘CM Di Yogashala’ scheme symbolizes positive change in the lives of the people of Punjab. This is a “preventive health revolution” that simultaneously promotes health, employment, and social cohesion. This scheme is not only improving the lives of Punjabis but also offering a successful public health model for the entire country. The Punjab government deserves praise for this remarkable and visionary initiative.
