With inclusion of CM Bhagwant Mann, Cabinet Ministers visit flood affected areas of state on Friday
– Relief work speeded up, more than 22000 people shifted to safe places
– Number of relief camps reduced after flood situation improved in some areas
– Health department establishes 252 medical camps, 409 rapid response teams active in flood affected areas
– Animal Husbandry Department Vaccinates more than 7200 animals
– MLA Gurpreet Singh donates one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
Chandigarh, July 14:
On the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann, Disaster Management Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa today visited about a dozen flood affected areas of Mohali district.
Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer also took stock of the flood situation in Dera Bassi area while Information and Public Relations Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra has been tirelessly serving the people in the flood-affected areas of Pattran for the last several days. Minister Aman Arora also visited Sunam area today. Apart from this, other ministers and MLAs are also helping the flood-affected people in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, Sardulgarh MLA Gurpreet Singh has announced to give his one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund so that it can be used to help the flood victims.
On the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, relief work has been speeded up and 22764 flood affected people have been shifted to safer places.
The number of relief camps has been reduced from 183 to 161 after the flood situation improved in some areas.
A spokesperson said that till 8 am on July 14, 1179 villages in 14 districts have been affected by the floods. At present, the 14 districts which are facing the brunt of the floods are Patiala, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Moga, Ludhiana, Mohali and Sangrur.
Keeping in view the health of the people, the Health Department teams have increased the number of Rapid Response Teams from 315 to 409 while the number of medical camps has also been increased from 186 to 252. Till now the total OPD has reached 9204.
The Animal Husbandry Department has informed that a total of 1730 animals have been treated and 7255 animals have been vaccinated in the flood-affected areas. Apart from this, most of the districts have completed their H.S. Vaccination drive. Teams engaged in relief work are working round the clock to provide treatment, feed supply and fodder etc. to the needy animals.
Giving further information, he said that dry food packets are being distributed continuously in the flood-affected areas. Only in Patiala (37000) and Rupnagar (18930) more than 57 thousand dry food packets have been distributed.
