Water Resources Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra inspects Bhakra Dam, assesses maintenance and water levels

 

Asserts Mann government’s commitment to optimal utilization of canal water for drinking, irrigation, and industrial purposes

 

 

Chandigarh/Nangal, September 17:

Punjab Water Resources and Soil and Water Conservation Minister S. Chetan Singh Jouramajra, on Tuesday, conducted inspection of Bhakra Dam in Nangal to assess the maintenance and water levels of the dam.

During his visit, S. Jouramajra asserted that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government is focusing on groundwater conservation through maximizing canal water usage for drinking, irrigation and industrial needs.

The Cabinet Minister thoroughly examined the dam’s maintenance procedures and current water levels, engaging with officials and issuing pertinent directives.

In a media briefing, he said that concerted efforts are being ensured to enhance canal water utilization, including timely repairs where necessary. Reaffirming the Mann government’s dedication to fulfilling its obligations within the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), the Cabinet Minister said that state government is committed to complete the recruitment of Punjab’s share for state’s quota posts in BBMB.

Layer, S. Chetan Singh Jouramajra toured various facilities at Bhakra Dam, including the power generation unit, allied infrastructure and the modern museum. He gained comprehensive insights into the dam’s operations from on-site officials. The Minister also planted sapling during the visit.

Prominent amongst others who were present included BBMB Chief Engineer CP Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer HL Kamboj, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikas Sanjeev Kumar, SDM Anmajot Kaur, DSP Manjeet Singh, Tehsildar Sandeep Kumar, Executive Engineer Harjot Singh Walia and PRO Satnam Singh.
