Vigilance nabs ASI for taking bribe Rs. 5,000

 

Chandigarh, March 6: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Manmohan Krishan posted at City Police Station, Division No. 6, Jalandhar red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said accused ASI was arrested on the complaint of Robin Verma of Gurdaspur. The complainant has approached the VB on toll free number and alleged that the accused police official was demanding bribe Rs. 5,000 to release his car on ‘supardari’ confiscated in a case.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team from Jalandhar laid a trap and the accused ASI was caught on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under section of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station, Jalandhar and further investigation is under progress.
