Vigilance Bureau nabs power official for taking Rs 8,000 bribe
Registers corruption case against co-accused Junior Engineer also
Chandigarh November 8 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state has apprehended Kulwant Singh, a complaint handling boy (CHB), posted at PSPCL office Patiala while taking a bribe of Rs 8000.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB informed that the said power official has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Jasvir Singh, a resident of village Sular, Patiala district.
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB Patiala range and alleged that Davinder Singh junior engineer and above said Kulwant Singh CHB were threatening him that domestic power load in his house was over the approved limit and demanded Rs 8,000 bribe to avoid penalty in this regard.
He further added that after a preliminary investigation of this complaint, a VB team from Patiala range laid a trap and nabbed accused Kulwant Singh while accepting bribe of Rs 8,000 from the complainant in the presence of two officials witnesses. In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against Davinder Singh JE and Kulwant Singh CHB at VB police station Patiala range. The other co-accused JE would be arrested soon and further investigation was under progress.
