Vigilance Bureau nabs Patwari for taking Rs 25,000 bribe

 

 

Chandigarh November 29 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign, on Wednesday has nabbed a revenue Patwari Narjeet Singh, posted at revenue halqua, Sham Churasi, Hoshiarpur district red handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said revenue official on the complaint of Baldev Singh, a resident village Kadiana in Hoshiarpur district.

 

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Patwari has demanded Rs 30,000 as a bribe in lieu of transfer and mutation of his land but the deal has been struck at Rs 25,000.

The spokesperson further added that the VB unit of Jalandhar range has investigated the allegations levelled in the complaint and laid a trap in which the accused Patwari has been arrested red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

 

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered at VB police station Jalandhar range against the above mentioned revenue official. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.
