VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS JUNIOR ASSISTANT FOR TAKING A BRIBE OF RS 24,000

          Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Saturday nabbed a Junior Assistant Sheeshpal posted at Nagar Panchayat, Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur district for accepting a bribe of Rs 24,000.

          The accused official has been arrested on the complaint of Ravinder Kumar resident of Una (HP).

          Divulging the details here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that Ravinder Kumar had filed a complaint on Anti Corruption Action Line “9501 200 200” on 14-07-2023 that he was posted as Section Officer at  Nagar Panchayat, Mahilpur from 2011 to 2016 and he was dismissed from service on 28-12-2021 after he was found guilty in a case registered against him under sections 306, 506 of IPC at Police Station Mahilpur.

          As per the complainant, he submitted applications at the office of Executive Officer (EO) to release his Provide Fund (PF) amounting to Rs 3,40,116 and he also sent messages on the EO’s Whatsapp number. The accused Junior Assistant Sheespal demanded a bribe from the complainant on 22-06-2023 to get the PF amount released and the complainant transferred Rs. 24000 as a bribe in personal Bank Account of the accused official.

          After preliminary investigation of the complaint, the VB today arrested the accused Sheeshpal after registering an FIR no 18 dated 22-07-2023 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act against him at Police Station VB, Jalandhar Range.
