An official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau revealed that the arrest was made based on an online complaint filed by a resident of Phagwara on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
The complainant alleged that the accused had not only demanded but also accepted the bribe on behalf of the Joint Sub-Registrar of Sub-Tehsil Goraya in Tehsil Phillaur and a Registry Clerk, who was posted at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Goraya. Moreover, this was done in connection with the execution of a sale deed.
A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act ; Vigilance Bureau
During the investigation, the VB thoroughly examined the case and ultimately found the allegations to be true. Consequently, they proceeded with the arrest of the accused deed writer. Furthermore, a case has been officially registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Range Jalandhar. As a result, he will be produced before the competent court tomorrow for further legal proceedings.
The spokesperson added that the roles of the Joint Sub-Registrar and Registry Clerk would be examined as the investigation progresses.
