VB registers corruption case against SHO and ASI
Accused personnel demanding Rs 35,000 more as bribe
Chandigarh August 5, 2024 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state has registered a corruption case against Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police Inderjit Singh, posted as SHO at police station Bhadson, district Patiala and his colleague Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amarjit Singh for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50000.
An official spokesperson of the state Vigilance Bureau disclosed today that they registered this case after verifying a complaint lodged by Harman Singh against the above-mentioned police officials on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
The complainant alleged that the Bhadson police station registered a case against him and others. He further informed that the above-mentioned SHO and ASI had already taken an illegal gratification of ₹50,000 to help the accused with their case. He further informed that now both the Police officials have been demanding rupees 35000 more from complainant for cancellation of above said FIR as both parties had struck a compromise.
During verification, the authorities found the allegations in the complaint to be correct and true. The investigation proved that the SHO and ASI demanded a ₹35,000 bribe and accepted ₹50,000. Based on this investigation, they registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the SHO and ASI at the VB police station in the Patiala range. investigation into this case was under progress.
