VB Arrests Revenue Patwari for Rs. 42,000 Bribe

Chandigarh February 9 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has arrested a revenue Patwari Sunil Dutt, posted in Amritsar district for accepting bribe of Rs 42,000.

Today, an official spokesperson from the state VB disclosed that they initiated the case against the accused individual based on an online complaint filed by Gursahib Singh, who resides in village Jalloke, Amritsar district, through the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption action line. The spokesperson emphasized the proactive approach citizens take in reporting malpractice and highlighted the role of digital platforms in enabling swift responses to corruption allegations.

The spokesperson further detailed that, according to the complainant, the Patwari allegedly received a bribe of Rs 42,000 with the promise of expediting the mutation process for his land. Following the complaint, the VB range in Amritsar thoroughly investigated the matter and confirmed its validity. Subsequently, based on the investigation findings, authorities registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused at the VB police station within the Amritsar range, leading to the apprehension of the revenue Patwari. The spokesperson stressed the ongoing nature of the investigation and reiterated the commitment to thoroughly examine the case.
