VB arrests Revenue Patwari for demanding illegal gratification
Chandigarh February 15 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has arrested a revenue Patwari Kewal Singh, resident of village Kandiala and posted at revenue circle Harpura, in Gurdaspur district for accepting bribe.
Registered a case against Patwar
An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed today that they have registered a case against the said accused based on an online complaint lodged by Jeevanjot Singh, a resident of village Khokhar, district Gurdaspur, on the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption action line.”
He further added that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the above said Patwari has been demanding illegal gratification to make corrections in the revenue records regarding ownership of his land. The complainant has also made recording of demand raised by the said Patwari while demanding bribe and submitted to the VB as an evidence.
In this regard the VB range Amritsar has investigated the complaint and found the allegations as true and correct. Based on this report, VB police station in the Amritsar range has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the aforementioned accused and has subsequently arrested them. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he added.
