Vigilance Bureau arrests Police Sub-Inspector for accepting Rs 10000 bribe
Chandigarh December 17, 2024 -Bribery Case: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) is actively campaigning against corruption in the state. On Tuesday, they arrested Sub-Inspector Daljit Singh (Now Retired). The police posted the accused at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar. Arrested Sub-Inspector accepted a bribe of Rs 10000. The Bureau arrested him as per the law after bringing him on a production warrant. He is currently lodged in the Central Jail Amritsar under the NDPS Act.
Accused police officer demanded a bribe
An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed this today. A complaint led to the arrest of the above-mentioned police official. Joga Singh, a resident of village Kotli Naseer Khan, Amritsar, lodged the complaint.
He further added that the complaint stated the accused police Sub-Inspector demanded a bribe. This occurred during his posting. He asked for Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant. This was in exchange for declaring the complainant’s son innocent in an FIR.The police lodged the FIR against him in 2017 at the Amritsar Cantonment police station.

During investigation of this complaint, we proved that the said police personnel had demanded Rs 100,000. They had also taken a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant for the above said motive.
FIR registered at VB Police Station
The spokesperson informed that the VB Police Station, Amritsar range, registered an FIR on 28.11.2024 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.Further investigation into this case was under progress, he added.
