CHANDIGARH/FEROZEPUR, November 3:
In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with Ferozepur Police, has arrested two members of the Ashish Chopra Gang from Ferozepur and recovered 205 grams of heroin from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Monday.
Those arrested have been identified as Rashpal alias Sewak, a resident of village Kunde in Ferozepur and Rajiv alias Jassa, a resident of village Bare Ke in Ferozepur.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed the arrested duo were in contact with Yuvi, a shooter of the Ashish Chopra Gang and wanted in the Ashu Monga murder case, which took place in Ferozepur in May 2025.
The DGP said that further investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case to dismantle the entire network.
Sharing operation details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban said that acting on reliable inputs, police teams from AGTF led by DSP AGTF Rajan Parminder in coordination with Ferozepur Police has arrested both the accused persons from near Railway Crossing at village Madhre in Ferozepur.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that the accused Rashpal Singh has a criminal background involving several cases of NDPS Act and Arms Act violations. Further investigation is underway, he added.
In this regard, a case FIR no. 319 dated 01.11.2025 has been registered under sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Ferozepur.
