Training session to teach sign language to officials and employees under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner

The Patiala District Administration has decided to sensitize the officers and employees of the government departments to help the hearing and speech-impaired people in a unique initiative across the state. Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, a special training session is being organized for officers and employees of various departments, in which basic knowledge of sign language will be imparted with the support of the Society for Welfare of Handicapped.
Divulging the details Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said that this training session will be dedicated to the World Day of Disability and will be conducted from December 12 to 16 to give information about sign language to the officers and employees posted at the District Administrative Complex. She further said that the District Social Security Officer has been instructed to make arrangements in this regard.
Sakshi Sawhney said that with the help of the Special School for Deaf, Saifdipur, this training session has been designed so that the citizens with special needs, especially those who are unable to speak and hear, do not face any problems while coming for their work at government offices and the staff posted at government offices can understand their language.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Patiala district administration has decided to make its staff more sensitive to such people by taking this initiative to realize the dream taken by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan to provide government services to the citizens immediately without any delay or hassle.
