Teen opens library in village

Muktahal Singh Birring, 17 opened up Birring Library in Village Birring, Jalandhar with the cooperation of the community.

The library is free for anyone to use and includes books in Punjabi and English about various topics including, Sikhism, religious texts, history, encyclopedias and children’s books. “It is my vision for the library to become a centre for learning in the village. The treasure-trove of knowledge that originates from our gurus must be
distributed and nurtured in our minds. Today’s unprecedented circumstances call for informed and reflective members in the society,” says Muktahal. The community is eager to make use of this facility.
