Setting up of the NSDC International Skill Centre in the Health Sector at AIIMS Bathinda
Inauguration of "NSDC International Skill Centre" at AIIMS Bathinda on 10 Aug 2023
AIIMS Bathinda has become the first AIIMS in India where the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India has established its first International Health Skill Hub Center, equipped with state-of-the-art ultramodern Skill Labs and classrooms consisting of latest mannequins and simulators.
The aim is to train the health workforce as per international standards and place them in India and abroad. This center also harbors the Cambridge University Center for Language Training of these candidates in OET (Occupational English Test) for international placements.
Welcoming the delegates and nursing students Dr. Kawaljit Singh, Nodal Officer & OSD, MoHFW at AIIMS, Bathinda thanked the visionary leadership of the Director, AIIMS Bathinda for taking a lead in Skill Development of healthcare professionals throughout India, starting with earlier run Respiratory Therapist project and now NSDC AIIMS International Skill Centre.
Civil Surgeon, Tejwant Singh Dhillon appreciated the role of AIIMS in health skill development especially during covid times.
Officiating Director & Dean Academics, Prof. Akhilesh Pathak congratulated the candidates of the first batch and wished them good luck in career.
Bathinda MLA, Jagroop Singh Gill assured full support from the district administration to mobilize the needy nursing students for this unique project.
Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Adviser, NSDC (Skill India International Mission), MSDE, GoI, applauded the leadership of AIIMS Bathinda for their constant efforts in Skill development. He apprised the audience of increase in global demand in the healthcare workforce and insisted on the use of the word “Brain exchange’’ in place of “Brain drain” and emphasized the need of sending Indian youth abroad in the right manner without paying hefty amounts to agents.
A vote of thanks was given by Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Medical Superintendent, and the ceremony ended with a press conference followed by lunch.
