SDM Office Bill Clerk Arrested for Rs. 20,000 Bribe
Chandigarh March 20 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Wednesday nabbed Narinder Kumar, Bill Clerk, posted at SDM Office, Mohali, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20000.
An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed today that the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Yadvinder Singh, a resident of village Landran, District S.A.S. Nagar.
He informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the said accused Bill Clerk has been demanding Rs. 40000 as a bribe in lieu of clearance of two bills amounting to Rs. 4,09,390 each pertaining to refund of court fees regarding a land settlement case of his father-in-law Kesar Singh, resident of village Chachu Majra, in S.A.S. Nagar district. The complainant further added that the accused had already taken Rs. 20000 from him and demanding the remaining bribe amount.
The spokesperson reported that after conducting a preliminary investigation into this complaint, a VB team set a trap during which they arrested the said accused Bill Clerk red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. Regarding this incident, he announced that the Police Station VB Flying Squad-1, Mohali, Punjab, has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and they are actively conducting further investigation into the matter.
