Formal Gurpreet Singh from village Tajoke in Sehna block has become the flag bearer of save water campaign by opting for direct sowing of paddy using the latest techniques and covering hundred percent of his field’s area under this technique. The village itself has around 500 acres of land sown using the direct seeding method.

Gurpreet Singh is owner of 30 acres of land and has taken another six occurs on lease and has opted for direct sowing of paddy in 100 percent of the area.

Gurpreet said that earlier he used to cultivate paddy using the traditional methods but last time during the covid-19 he could not get enough labour for transplanting paddy manually so he took to direct sowing of paddy.

Gurpreet send that by opting for direct sowing of paddy he has not only save money on labour but also save water and precious time he added that his husband excellent this time which amounts to around 33 to 34 quintals per acre.

He added that at first Lazer land leveller is used to level the labs and then using DSR technique the paddy is transplanted. He has bought the DSR machine individually and it’s subsidy is awaited. The farmers of this village are progressive and have brought 500 acres land of village under DSR technique.

Another farmer Buta Singh Tajoke (Dera Baba Nanak) has 26 acres of land. Last year he had used DSR technique in 10 acres of land, which will be 15 acres this season.

Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Charanjit Singh Kainth said that following covid protocols, village level camps and nukkad meetings were held to promote DSR technique for paddy sowing.

Till now 19 special camps have been held to promote DSR technique and department is conducting special field visits to sensitize farmers.

He added that except for the sandy soil, the medium category to heavy soil is recommended for DSR technique.

Around 1.13 hectares of land is under paddy cultivation in district of which around 25000 to 30000 acres of land is expected to be under DSR (which is 20 percent more than last year)

He said that around 150 DSR machines were being put to use in district for direct sowing of paddy. Last year super seeder, mulcher, etc were given at a subsidy of Rs 15 cr. This year garners have applied online to get the subsidy.

More farmers should step in shoes of Gurpreet Singh, Deputy Commissioner 

Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka appreciating said that more farmers should follow Gurpreet’s footsteps. He added that Gurpreet was saving mother earth and increased his income at the same time.

ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਤਾਜੋਕੇ ਦਾ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ 100 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਰਕਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸਾਨ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਸੀ ਤਾਜੋਕੇ (ਬਲਾਕ ਸਹਿਣਾ) 36 ਏਕੜ ਰਕਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ 30 ਏਕੜ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਰੀਬ 6 ਏਕੜ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਠੇਕੇ ’ਤੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰੀਬ 36 ਏਕੜ ਰਕਬੇ ਵਿਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸਾਨ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਝੋਨਾ ਲਗਾਉਦਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਕਰੋਨਾ ਕਾਲ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੇਬਰ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਦਾ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਏ। ਇਸ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਨਾਲ ਲੇਬਰ, ਪਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਬੱਚਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਕਬੇ ਵਿਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸਾਨ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਨਾਲ ਝਾੜ ਵੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਰਿਹਾ, ਜੋ ਕਰੀਬ 33 ਤੋਂ 34 ਕੁਇੰਟਲ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਏਕੜ ਸੀ।

ਉਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਨਾਲ ਝੋਨਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲੈਵਲ ਲੇਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਡੀਐਸਆਰ ਡਰਿੱਲ ਵਰਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈੇ। ਉਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕਲੌਤੇ ਪੱਧਰ ’ਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਖਰੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਬਸਿਡੀ ਲਈ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਤਾਜੋਕੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਅਗਾਂਹਵਧੂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਕਰੀਬ 500 ਏਕੜ ਰਕਬਾ ਡੀਐਸਆਰ ਅਧੀਨ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਇਸੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਬੂਟਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਾਜੋਕੇ (ਡੇਰਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨਾਂ ਕੋਲ 26 ਏਕੜ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ 10 ਏਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਸਫਲ ਰਹੀ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ 15 ਏਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਮੁੱਖ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਅਫਸਰ ਡਾ. ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੈਂਥ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਾਰਚ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਵਿਡ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੋਕੋਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਿੰਡ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਕੈਂਪਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੁੱਕੜ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਲਸਿਲਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਡੀਐਸਆਰ ਬਾਰੇ 19 ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਕੈਂਪ ਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪੱਧਰ ’ਤੇ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਰੇਤਲੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਦਰਮਿਆਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਦੀ ਸਿਫਾਰਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ ਦਾ ਝੋਨੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਨ ਰਕਬਾ 1.13 ਲੱਖ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ 25 ਤੋਂ 30 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਰਕਬਾ (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕਰੀਬ 20 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਵਾਧੇ ਨਾਲ) ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਮਾਨ ਹੈ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕੈਂਥ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਰੀਬ 150 ਡੀਐਸਆਰ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਰੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਰ ਸੀਡਰ, ਮਲਚਰ, ਉਲਟਾਵੇਂ ਹਲ ਆਦਿ ’ਤੇ ਕਰੀਬ 15 ਕਰੋੜ ਦੀ ਸਬਸਿਡੀ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਬਸਿਡੀ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਪੋਰਟਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਬਸਿਡੀ ’ਤੇ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਰੀ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸ. ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਫੂਲਕਾ ਨੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਤਾਜੋਕੇ ਦੇ ਅਗਾਂਹਵਧੂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਹਾਣੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਖੇਤੀ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਅਪਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਸ੍ਰੋਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨਾਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੇਧ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਰਕਬਾ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਅਧੀਨ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
