SAVE FORESTS TO SAVE HUMANS, DHARMSOT APPEALS TO PEOPLE

UNDERLINES PUNJAB’S LEADING ROLE IN RESTORING GREEN COVER  WITH PLANTATION OF ONE CRORE PLANTS IN LAST FOUR YEAR UNDER GHAR GHAR HARYALI SCHEME

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 20:

While underlining the urgent need of restoration of forest cover and their sustainable management for mankind, Punjab Forests Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot has appealed to people to take up the task of plantation of more trees with missionary zeal on this occasion.

In his message on the eve of International Day of Forests, Dharamsot expressed great satisfaction at Punjab leading the way by planting as many as one crore saplings in last four years under Ghar Ghar Haryali Scheme. “We will be taking forward our mission of clean green environment with similar zeal this year too when we celebrate the special occasion of 400th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib”, he added.

Wishing the people on the occasion, the Forest Minister urged them to encourage others in planting more trees on personal occasions like birthdays and religious festivities. He informed that the state Govt had also initiated the drive to plant saplings dedicated to 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Pointing out that healthy forests and surroundings can play a pivotal role in keeping us safe from deadly viruses, Dharmsot said a thriving natural ecosystem also provides greater avenues for more jobs and livelihoods besides ensuring food security as well.
