SAS Nagar, June 2:

Owing to some decline in positivity and the number of cases of COVID19 in the District and after deliberations with stakeholders District Magistrate Girish Dayalan exercising powers conferred under Section 144 of Cr. PC has issued some modifications to the orders issued on May 07, 2021 which shall be effective with immediate effect until further orders.

“In view to balance the needs to contain and manage COVID19 while at the same time, save and secure livelihoods of people, partial modification to previous orders have been made,” informed DM.

The modifications entail that the Liquor Vends would remain closed during weekend curfew. The Odd/ Even opening of shops in urban areas has been discontinued. The Private Offices are allowed to open without any separate permission. But in order to avoid crowding and congestion only 50% staff shall be called at any given time. Besides, Restrictions regarding number of passengers travelling in personal vehicles stand withdrawn. However, they continue to be applicable on commercial vehicles/ taxis etc.

Other restrictions that remain enforced as earlier include that

Shops can remain open between 5.00 AM – 5.00 PM. But, no shopping malls or single/ multi-brand retail standalone shops shall open except shops selling essential items in these malls/ complexes.

COVID Monitors shall be appointed by Market Associations and their names shall be prominently displayed. They shall be personally responsible for ensuring adherence to COVID Guidelines of GoI and GoP.

Restaurants/ Eateries can open only for home delivery till 9 PM but no dine-in or take-away. Both management and customer shall be held liable for violations, if any.

Services provided by self-employed persons such as electricians, plumbers, IT repairs, etc. shall also be allowed.

In the meanwhile those exempted from weekend curfew are the Essential Shops i.e. Food, Groceries, Milk, Medicines etc., the Restaurants/ Eateries (for home-delivery), the ATMs, the workshops/ Service Centres for automobiles etc. and the small shops inside gated residential societies which service local needs

As far as Private Offices are concerned they are allowed to open but in order to avoid crowding and congestion only 50% staff shall be called at any given time. Work from home should be encouraged by heads of all offices. The concerned staff/ employees can travel ‘to and from’ work only on production of their ID Cards. Misuse will invite strict penal action.

COVID Monitors shall be appointed and their names shall be prominently displayed. They shall be personally responsible for ensuring adherence to COVID Guidelines of GoI and GoP.

All Private Offices should ensure that their staff/ employees are tested regularly – preferably every 2 weeks. Any person showing symptoms should be asked to isolate and tested immediately.

Any violations shall invite criminal proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
