CM announces to develop area around Ranjit Sagar Dam especially Dhar Kalan block as ideal tourist destination

 

 

Envisions that the unmatched natural beauty in area can further out Punjab on map of international tourism

 

Describes it as need of hour to transform destiny of people by promotion of economic activity

 

Dhar (Pathankot), May 18:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said that the state government will make concerted efforts for developing area around Ranjit sagar dam especially in Dhar Kalan block as an ideal tourist destination.

The Chief Minister who visited this area on Thursday said that there is a huge potential for developing this area as a tourist destination for which concerted efforts will be made. He bemoaned that due to negligence of the successive state governments the area has been hitherto ignored in the lace of development. Bhagwant Mann said that the untapped potential of tourism in this area will harnessed for attracting the tourists to this land with immense natural beauty.

 

The Chief Minister asked the officers to prepare a detailed blueprint for the development of the entire region so that a major fillip can be given to tourism sector in the state. He said that this area is blessed with bounty of natural resources which can attract the tourists from across the globe. Bhagwant Mann said that this is the need of hour for promotion of economic activity in the region thereby transforming the lives of people.

 

The Chief Minister said that the state government has already cleared water adventure tourism policy for the promotion of water sports which can also be implemented here. Bhagwant Mann envisioned that the day is not far when after sprucing up the infrastructure this region becomes a hub of the tourists across the country. He said that this area can act as a catalyst for further emerging Punjab on the map of international tourism.

 

Earlier, the Chief Minister also visited the Ranjit Sagar Dam and paid tributes to the martyrs killed during the construction of dam. He also inspected the site of Shahpur Kandi Barrage project and reviewed the ongoing work.
